In a recent development, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Tagkawayan has filed a case against the driver of a colorum vehicle. The driver was found in violation of RA 11659 or the Public Safety Act for operating a private motor vehicle as a Public Utility Vehicle (PUV). The case was filed under the directive of LTO Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II and LTO Region 4A Regional Director Elmer J. Decena.
The incident occurred when the driver, operating the colorum vehicle, fled the scene after being flagged down, nearly hitting an LTO enforcer in the process. The vehicle was carrying sixteen passengers at the time of the incident.
In the aftermath of the event, the passengers were safely transferred to a Public Utility Bus heading to Masbate Province. LTO Tagkawayan Chief of Office Franz O. Salamat ensured the safety of the passengers, returned their fares, and is constantly monitoring their trip to their destination.
This incident underscores the LTO’s commitment to enforcing transportation laws and ensuring public safety. The LTO continues to crack down on colorum vehicles and urges the public to report any such activities.
